What are RFx tools?
RFx tools are the features within sourcing software that build, send, collect and score requests for information, quotation and proposal, cutting sourcing time.
What RFx means
RFx is shorthand for the family of sourcing requests: request for information, request for quotation, request for proposal and request for tender. RFx tools are the parts of RFx software that run those requests and automate the work around them.
Typical features
- Templates for creating and reusing sourcing events.
- Question libraries and pricing templates.
- A supplier portal for invitations, questions and responses.
- Weighted scoring and side by side comparison.
- Task tracking and workflow for evaluators and approvers.
- A full record of every response and decision.
Why teams use them
Running sourcing events by email and spreadsheet is slow, and it is hard to keep versions straight or show the process was fair. RFx tools shorten the sourcing cycle and make it more accurate and consistent, because every supplier receives the same documents and every response is scored the same way.
How Aavenir handles it
RFPflow provides these tools natively on ServiceNow or standalone. Aavenir AI can draft questions and summarize responses for evaluators, and a person approves every AI action.

Common questions
What is the difference between RFx tools and RFx software?
RFx software is the overall application for running sourcing events. RFx tools are the individual features inside it, such as templates, scoring and supplier portals. Read about RFx software.
Do RFx tools replace procurement judgment?
No. They handle the administration: sending documents, collecting answers and calculating scores. Choosing criteria, evaluating quality and making the award remain decisions for people. Read about bid analysis.
What should you look for in RFx tools?
Reusable templates, flexible question types, a simple supplier experience, weighted scoring, collaboration for evaluators and a clean path from award to contract. Ask to see the supplier view as well as the buyer view before you choose. See RFPflow.
