Why this release

Contract lifecycle management adoption is not failing because people do not care. It is failing because the tools have not kept up with how legal, procurement and operations teams work. Teams face growing contract volumes, tighter timelines and stricter compliance requirements, often with little visibility. A single clause deviation or missed obligation can mean hours of rework, or a compliance risk.

The Spring 2025 release responds to what legal and procurement leaders need now: less manual effort, clearer oversight and faster review, with confidence that nothing slips through.

What is new with Avy

AI cannot replace legal or procurement expertise, but it can remove the overhead that slows experts down. In this release Avy, Aavenir’s generative AI assistant, takes a more active role across the contract lifecycle, built into the core contract tasks rather than sitting on the side as a chatbot.

1. AI contract summaries

When a contract is uploaded, Aavenir AI writes a concise summary and saves it as the contract description, with no extra steps. One click produces a longer, templated summary covering the contracting relationship, key obligations, financial terms, and renewal triggers and risks.

2. Spot clause compare

Clause comparison usually waits for a full extraction and a manual clause by clause check against the library. Spot clause compare checks one clause against pre approved language in a couple of clicks: choose the clause in the AI assistant, compare it with the clause library and get flagged deviations and suggested changes, with no prompt writing. For teams working on third party paper or high volumes of redlines, review of key clauses becomes faster and more repeatable.

3. Spot obligation identification

Obligations are scattered across long documents and easy to miss, which leads to missed service levels, untracked penalties and unmet deliverables. In one click, Aavenir AI now finds the obligations assigned to your organization, those assigned to the counterparty, and shared obligations, without a full extraction or a call to legal.

4. Autonomous obligation verification

Checking proof of fulfillment, such as insurance documents, compliance certificates and financial statements, takes a great deal of manual time after signature. Upload the fulfillment document and Aavenir AI works out the checklist criteria from the contract obligation, checks whether the document meets them and runs the closure or rejection workflow from the result.

5. Preloaded guided prompts

Users do not always know which questions to ask an AI assistant, or how to phrase them. Teams can now preload the questions they ask most, such as whether a contract includes data sharing provisions, what the governing law clause says, or which renewal terms apply, so AI use is consistent across the organization.

Features that remove everyday friction

Document management that reflects reality

Supporting documents such as SOPs, certificates and annexures are part of every deal. Users can now upload several documents to the contract record at once, mark document types such as policy, guideline or certificate, replace older versions by drag and drop and add notes without cluttering the record.

Signing sequence with DocuSign

Users can set the signing order with drag and drop before sending documents through DocuSign. Contract documents appear first by default, and users control the rest of the sequence.

Smarter review and navigation

Smart summary field

A smart summary on the contract record gives an instant overview without opening the document, and refreshes whenever the contract changes.

Enhanced LiveView

• View in place. Supporting documents open in LiveView without downloading.
• Better clause highlighting. Clauses are detected and highlighted more precisely.
• Mark and map terms. Select text in the document and map it to metadata fields such as term dates or governing law.
• Deviation analysis without check in. Run clause deviation checks from LiveView before a document is checked in.

Process intelligence and activity tracking

• Idle days. A new field shows how long a contract has sat in one status, so stalled agreements stand out.
• Termination reversal. Terminations can be canceled if the business decision changes or was made in error.
• Clause deviation scoring. Calculated as soon as library clauses are applied from the Word add in.
• Enhanced audit logs. Track metadata updates, Office 365 actions such as check ins, and clause changes.
