# What is a supplier performance review?

A supplier performance review is a regular check of how well a supplier delivers against its contract, measured by key performance indicators and service levels such as quality, timeliness and cost.

## What a review covers

Many organizations cannot operate if a critical supplier fails, so it pays to check performance on a schedule rather than wait for a problem. A review usually looks at:

- **Quality.**defect rates, rework and complaints.

- **Delivery.**on time and in full, or response and resolution times for services.

- **Cost.**invoice accuracy and whether agreed prices and discounts were applied.

- **Compliance.**insurance, certifications and other contract obligations kept up to date.

- **Relationship.**responsiveness and ideas for improvement.

## Why it matters

Price is only part of value. A supplier that charges the agreed rate but misses deadlines or quality standards still costs money. Regular reviews catch slipping performance early, give the supplier a fair chance to fix it, and give you evidence for renewal, renegotiation or exit.
