# What is supplier master data management?

Supplier master data management is the processes and technology that keep one accurate, secure and trusted record of every supplier across all systems.

## What it covers

Supplier master data is the full set of records a company keeps about its suppliers: legal and tax details, addresses and contacts, bank details, payment terms, the goods and services sourced from each, certifications, risk information and status. Supplier master data management makes that data the single version of the truth shared across procurement, finance and the business.

## Why it matters

Every purchase order, invoice and payment depends on supplier data. Duplicates, outdated bank details and missing tax information cause failed payments, fraud risk and compliance gaps. Inconsistent records across systems also distort spend reports, because one supplier can look like several.
