# What is a dashboard?

A dashboard is a visual display that tracks key performance indicators and metrics in one place, so people can see at a glance how a business or process is doing.

## How dashboards work

A dashboard pulls data from one or more connected sources and shows it as charts, tables and figures on a single screen, often its own web page. Most let users choose what to see, filter by period or team and drill into the detail. The aim is information at a glance: whether things are on track and where to look next.
