# What is centralized procurement?

Centralized procurement is a model where one department, usually at headquarters, buys goods and services for the whole organization, including every branch and business unit.

## How it works

A central purchasing team, led by a purchasing manager, owns sourcing, contracts and supplier relationships for all locations. Business units submit requests, and the central team decides what to buy, from whom and on what terms. It suits organizations that are not widely spread out geographically or that buy similar things across locations.

## Advantages
